Affirmative Action ? or NOT

Let’s give everyone an equal chance to succeed in life. People don't have a choice over their race when they're born, so we should give respect to others, even if we're a little different from them. What matters is we're all the same on the inside. Just because Barack Obama is an African American, doesn't mean he'll do worse than a white president. Although he was raised by a Hawaiian mother and didn't go through the hardships of a Negro, it doesn't matter. Judging how he will do by his outer appearance is wrong. He's been given a list of things that will be very hard to do. If he isn't able to fix all of our nation's problems, we stil shouldn't judge him because anyone else probably would have the same hard times making decisions.

The election of Obama as president is a big step towards affirmative action. (Affirmative action: the encouragement of increased representation of women and minority-group members, esp. in employment)

African American presidents can do just as well as any white president. In the case of Obama, his talents and the oppurtunities presented (hard problems), he might propel beyond what any president has ever accomplished. Who knows?

People have false ideas on affirmative action, and many people want to limit things a black president can do.

Even though Obama is a well-educated person who graduated from Harvard Law, people discriminate against him because of his skin color. They say that no matter how smart he is, their reputation will go down due to his background.

He represents the African Americans, and will hopefully show everyone who doesn't believe in him that skin color does not matter. Hopefully, he will be able to give hope to other African Americans, to show them that they are worthy, and that they should be ashamed of their skin color. Obama brings hope for African Americans to show that they can do it!

Obama being president does not prove that affirmative action should no longer exist. He's only one man out of a population of many who are in dire situations due to their skin color. Some people won't get hired just because they're black. Affirmative action should be taken everywhere, not just in the government. This is a step towards the right decision though. Just because he became president doesn't mean other blacks are on the same level as him. We still have to give the same oppurtunites to everyone else!
